Lovers Pavillion : Victorian Era Ruby and Rose Cut Diamond Dome Ring in Silver and 18ct Gold circa 1860

Sold A scarce and stunning natural ruby and rose cut diamond dome ring from the mid Victorian Era, handmade in 18ct yellow gold with the diamonds set in silver, as was the custom of the time. The style and manufacture of the ring suggest a fusion of Rajasthani India influence with a distinctly opulent mid-Victorian Era aesthetic. It’s very much a More is More statement piece. Manufacture  Handmade in 18ct yellow gold with the diamonds set into silver, as was the custom of the time. There are no hallmarks present, the precious metals have been verified by XRF test. At the centre of the ring is an oval, flat cut natural ruby measuring approximately 6.7mm x 5.8mm and set into an 18ct gold raised bezel. Surrounding the ruby are two tiers of rose cut diamonds in silver crimped collets. The 30 rose cut diamonds vary in size, but are approximately 2.7mm each in diameter. All gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist as natural earth mined gemstones. The 18ct yellow undercarriage and gold shoulders of the ring are highly decorated with engraved details. Flame like motifs appear at each shoulder, tapering to a wide scalloped band, slightly convex on the inside for a comfortable fit. The face of the ring measures 19.5mm x 21.67mm. Sits 9mm high on the finger. Weighs 5.92 grams.
